John Prokup, 83, of Naples, FL, passed away suddenly at his home on Aug 6, 2005.
John was born on May 8, 1922, in Bens Creek, PA, to Alexander and Mary (Latohe) Prokup, who preceded him in death.
He served in the US Army medics division during WWII.
John moved his family from Pennsylvania to Detroit, then to Kalkaska in 1956. They built, owned and operated Mary's Restaurant near Manistee Lake for many years. John and Mary moved to Naples, FL, in 1990 for the warmer climate.

John was the beloved husband of 62 years to Mary (Terlion), who survives; loving father to sons, John R (Linda) Prokup of Marco Island, FL, and Daniel G (Judy) Prokup of Kalkaska; proud grandpa to Daniel R (Cynthia) Prokup of Kalkaska and Michael J (Michelle) Prokup of Kalamazoo; and great grandpa or "Papa John" to Sarah, Allison, William, Lee, Heidi, and Robert. He also left behind one sister, Helen; sister in law, Bonnie; many nieces and nephews; and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynn Mary; brother, Benjamin; and sisters, Catherine, Carrie, and Elsie.
Arrangements were handled by the Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home of Marco Island, FL, and cremation has taken place.
