John Kelley, 83, died Tuesday night at his Buckley R.1 home after a long illness.
Mr. Kelley was born December 7, 1879 at Chelsea, Mass., the son of Thomas and Ann Kelley. On June 25, 1908, he was married to Mabel Kelley, who died on February 1, 1947, and on December 11, 1948, he was married to Loretta Hendges, who survives.
Also surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Ed (Kathleen) Smigelski of Detroit, Mrs. Earl (Helen) Atkins of Cheboygan, and Rose at home; five sons, John Jr. of Detroit, Thomas of Grand Rapids, Gene and James and Robert at home; three step-sons, Martin Hendges of Detroit, Fred Hendges of Traverse City and Louis Hendges at home; two step-daughters, Mrs. George Teaburg of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Fred Tuller of Detroit; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
The funeral mass will be sung at 9 a.m. Saturday at Hannah St. Mary’s Church, Rev. at Hannah St. Mary’s Church, Rev. Fr. Francis Karl celebrant, with burial in Springfield Township cemetery near Fife Lake.
The rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m. Friday at Smith funeral home in Kingsley.
