John Joseph Jankas, 86, of Kalkaska, passed away on Mon, Dec 4, 2006, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center-LTC. Born on Apr 25, 1920, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Anthony and Agatha (Kazlauskas) Jankas.
John married Albina M Wariakois on May 10, 1941 in Chicago, IL. He was a WWII veteran serving our country in the US Navy. John enjoyed fishing, hunting and the "great outdoors". Albina and John have been residents of Kalkaska for 20 years. He was an active member of the Kalkaska VFW Post 8684 and the Beebe-Sherwood Post 480 of the American Legion.
Surviving John is his wife, Albina, of 65 years; his children, Nancy J (Thomas) Trudel of Whiting, NJ and John J (Sue) Jankas of Katy, TX; 10 grandparents; and 11 great grandchildren.
A private family service was held on Fri, Dec 8, 2006, at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home with burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
