John J. Miller, 79, of Mancelona died on Tue, Jan 7, 1992 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mr. Miller had been a resident of Mancelona for five years, moving from Manton.
He was raised in Lapeer and Vanderbilt, and following his discharge from the service, he lived in Flint where he was employed with A.C. Spark Plug. Following his retirement in 1974, he moved to Manton.
He was a member of the Alba Pentecostal Church. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and blackberry picking, and he raised trout for the Fontinallis Club in Vanderbilt.
On Apr 12, 1912 in Lum, Lapeer County, he was born to Herman and Ida (Brooks) Miller.
In Gaylord on Nov 15, 1947, he was married to Edna Shepardson, and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Dan Miller, Carl Miller, and John Miller, all of Mancelona; two daughters, Brenda Miller and Debra Kicklighter, both of Manton; and three granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by one sons, Walter Miller in 1948, two brothers, Freeman Miller in 1984 and Arthur Miller in 1987, and two sisters, Emma Miller in 1929 and Sophia Cobb in 1980.
Funeral services were held on Fri, Jan 10 at the Paullin Funeral Home in Mancelona with Rev. Sam McClellan and Claude Rowley officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vanderbilt.
