John Henry Nooney, 77, of Inkster, died Fri, Dec 27, 1996. He was the son of Robert Benard and Anne (Miller) Nooney.
Surviving are his wife Iva (Wood); sister Marie Jabour; children: Patricia (Michael) Zimbicki of Gaylord, John (Jeanne) Nooney of Kalkaska, Gloria (Sam) Silva-Sampio of Hawaii and Bonnie White of Manitou Springs, CO; and eight grandchildren.
John was a meat cutter by trade and an artist by pastime. He retired from Danny's Foods in the Detroit area. He served in the Army Air Force in WWII.
John was a direct descendant of Robert B. Nooney, President of Board of Alderman for New York City in 1887.
Robert officiated at the unveiling of the Statue of Liberty in place of Mayor Grace, who was ill.
