Sun City, Ariz. - A former Ionia resident, John D. Richardson 74, of 9910 La Jolla Cir., died Friday, January 12 in St. Joseph’s hospital. He was born in Lafayette, Ind., moved to Arizona in 1958 from Ionia and to Sun City from Phoenix in 1961.
He was educated at Purdue University and had been counselor at Menke Funeral home. He had also been vice president in charge of Sunland Memorial Park for the Del E. Webb Developing Co.
While a resident of Ionia, Richardson was owner of a bedding company and a Singer company store.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma; two sons, John D. Jr., of Homestead, Fla. and Michael of Claremore, Okla; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were held at the Menke Funeral home with burial in Sunland Memorial Park. A memorial fund to the Sunshine Acre Children’s Home, 3405 N. Higley Rd., Mesa, Ariz. 85205 has been established.
