John D. Ball, 51, of Kalkaska passed away on Dec. 11. 2002, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 27, 1951, in Traverse City, the son of Rolland "John" and Barbara (Homan) Ball.
John was a veteran serving our country in the U.S. Navy for six years as an electronics technician, Petty Officer 1st Class.
He lived in Kalkaska his whole life. John was employed by WD Well Servicing. He was a member of the VFW Post 8684 Men's Auxiliary and American Legion Beebe Sherwood Post 480.
John is survived by his children: Debra (Kevin) Davis of Rapid City, Sandra (Timothy) Lewis of Parma, Ohio, Cyndi (Rich) Hoffman of Bad Axe, and Amanda Ball of Kalkaska; grandchildren Alexander Davis, Brendin Lewis, Kelsey Davis and Brianna Lewis; parents Rolland "John" and Barbara Ball of Kalkaska; sisters Bonnie (Duane) Campbell, Donna Groleau and Cheryl (Steve) Lull, all of Kalkaska; brothers Thomas Ball and Donald (Althea) Ball, all of Kalkaska; and 18 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Dec.1 13 at Wolfe Funeral Home. The Rev. David C. Rosenberg of Bear Lake Christian Church officiated. Military honors were provided by Kalkaska VFW Post 8684 at the cemetery. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials may be given on behalf of John D. Ball to Munson Hospice or the family of George Wells. Arrangements were made by Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska.
