Jerry "Shorty" Lee Long

Jerry Lee “Shorty” Long, age 59 of Kalkaska, died Wednesday May 9th at his home. Jerry was born on April 14, 1953 in Mancelona, MI., to Leslie & Beatrice (Snyder) Long.
Shorty had been a builder of log homes for many years, and per his family was a “jack of all trades”. He was a humble, down to earth man. A real family man, friend to everyone, and was loved by all. Shorty was a member of the Jesus King of Kings Bikers Church, enjoyed all outdoor activities, including mushrooming, riding his bike, and especially boating.
He is survived by his wife Arlene “Kay” whom he married on July 21, 1984 at Sands Park in Kalkaska. Also surviving are his children: Scott (Meshell) Glenn of Belleville, Lee Long of Kalkaska, Sarah (Jacob) Arbogast of Warren and Les (Bridget) Long of Kalkaska, siblings Clarence (Teri) Long, Pearl (Wendel) Pluff, Esther (William) Rich, Jerry Dale (Ella) Long and Robert Nichols, and three grandchildren Aubrey, Hailey and Riley Glenn.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12th at 2:00 p.m. from the Wolfe-O’Neill Funeral Home, 106 S. Cherry St., Kalkaska, with Pastor Hector Vazques of the Jesus King of Kings Bikers Church officiating. Visitation will begin on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Procession immediately following to Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
