Jane Holland was born at Longeaten, Derbyshire, England, July 12, 1854. At the age of 17 years she migrated to the shores of America, settling in Ionia, Michigan, July 6, 1871. She was united in marriage to John Harriman Aug. 1, 1875, and who passed this life Nov. 11, 1884. To this union were born two children; Harry, who preceded her to that better land July 4, 1910, and Rowland, who resides at Alden, Michigan. On March 22, 1888, she was again united in marriage to Mr. Samuel Ellsworth Snyder; to this union were born two children; Clyde Henry Snyder and Mrs. Myrtle Battenfield, both residents of Springfield township. Mrs. Snyder has been a member of the United Bretheren church for the past thirty years; and was a faithful and consistent Christian, endearing herself to all who knew her. Mrs. Snyder passed this life Monday afternoon July 19, 1920. She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, three children; also two brothers, Mr. William Holland of Detroit and Mr. Thomas Holland of Goodheart; besides a host of friends and neighbors who will miss her from the circle of their friendships. The funeral services were held at the Springfield U.B. church Wednesday afternoon July 21, 1920, at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. L.M. Whittemore, pastor of the Fife Lake, M.E. church.
