Jeffery Laine Houghton was born on Dec 14, 1957 in Traverse City. He passed away peacefully on Jan 29, 2020 at home in Kingsley.
Jeff was preceded in death by his mother, Rosetta Mary Houghton and his grandparents, Francis (Frank) and Dorothy (Harrigan) Houghton.
He is survived by his son, Jared Toler; daughter, Rachel Toler; and their mother, Jennifer Camien; his sister, Kim Shearer; his niece, Leah Haines (Matthew); great niece, Ayla Haines; great nephew, Mason Haines; stepfather, Richard Shearer, (Barbara), uncle, Michael Houghton; many cousins and countless friends.
Jeff was a mason by trade and worked for Schepers Masonry in Leroy for many years. He loved his work and his work family. He did beautiful work all over Michigan and Tennessee.
Jeff was a creative fun loving practical joker who loved to be outside. He loved to fish, hunt and build stone cairns and walls with rocks he collected from all over the state.
Jeff enjoyed two tracking, hunting for morel mushrooms, bonfires and family cookouts. He was always singing and loved music. He played guitar and harmonica. Jeff was always there to help with anything anyone needed.
Jeff will be missed by all of his family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held later this year.
