On Nov 3, 2022, Jay Luther Newmarch left his earthly home. After a long illness, he passed gently at his home in Sparta, MI. Hay was born on Apr 14, 1935 near Kingsley, MI. He graduated from Fife Lake High School, where he excelled at basketball. He was an avid deer and small game hunter and enjoyed sharing the sport, particularly with his brothers in law, Ed and Bill. Many other activities brought joy to his life, including camping, family road trips, and movies. He loved to tell stories of his adventures in great detail. Jay showed care for his children by asking: “Do you have enough food? Warm clothes? Gas in your car?” This continued no matter how old they were. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Pauline (Nienhuis) Newmarch, and his children: Lori (Ron) Fish, Jay A. Newmarch, and Teresa A. Newmarch; grandson, Christopher J. Fish; and siblings: Irene (Dave) Stremlow, Helen (Ed) Fritz, and Leona Nye, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mildred (Smith) Newmarch, and siblings: Vera (Harold) Riley, Harold (Mary) Newmarch, Lena (Ed) Themm, Doris (Bill) Stein, Flod (Anna) Newmarch, and Kenneth (infant). The family wishes to thank Hospice of Michigan for the care of its staff over the last month. In lieu of flowers, the family asks those who wish to remember Jay’s life to do so with a gift to Hospice of Michigan or the charity of their choice.
