Janet Grace Akers, 79, of Kalkaska, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center - Long Term Care. She was born on February 22, 1934, in Detroit, to the late Melvin and Grace (Smith) Moore. Janet is survived by her daughters Sandra Miller of Clinton, and Jackie Miller of Ypsilanti; grandchildren Jessie, Roxanne, and Jennifer; great grandchildren Josh, Ella, Dean, and Jaylin; and her brother Ronald Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Bob" Akers, her parents, her brother Jack Moore, and sister Barbara Norkowski. . A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 23, 2013 with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM until the time of service, in the Chapel of Kalkaska Funeral Home, 152 S. Cedar St., Kalkaska. Janet will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
