Janet Gertrude (Luce) Johnson, 89, whose life in Christ was witness to so many, is now absent from her body and in the presence of the lord awaiting the arrival of those hosts of people her life influenced to join her. She passed away Jul 3, 2002.
She was born Feb 21, 1913, in Bay City. She had retired as a teacher in Kalkaska Public Schools.
Surviving is son Lanny L (Carol L) Johnson of Okemos; daughter in law, Karen (Robert) Reid of Lansing; grandchildren, Charlotte (Carl) Heideman of Holland, Autumn Lynn Johnson of Okemos, Meagan (Kurt) Smith of Lansing, and Danielle (Torn) White of Traverse City; great grandchildren, Jack, Hope, and Chris Heideman, Emma, Alexander, and Isaac Smith, and Madelaine White.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; husband Willard L Johnson in 1981; daughter Roma Lee Johnson in 1945; son Barry Ray Johnson in 1977; brother, Charlton W Luce; and great grandchild, Sara Beth Heideman in 2000.
Memorial services were Jul 6, 2002, at Peoples Church, Kalkaska. An additional memorial service will be held Jul 14 at 2 pm at Okemos Christian Center, 2630 Bennett Rd, Okemos, with Pastor Craig Dumont officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Elk Rapids.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memories or memorials be sent to the Okemos Christian Center. The family was served by the Gorsline-Runciman Co. East Chapel, East Lansing.
