Janet "Jan" Faye (Schermerhorn) Arkless, 61, passed away at her home Thu, Jun 8, 2000.
She was born Dec 8, 1938, in Flint, to Harold and Marian (Manzer) Schermerhorn.
Living in Michigan most of her life, she graduated from Flint Central in 1957.
She came to Kalkaska in 1994 to help her parents. She worked at Burger King and also Sunrise Cafe as a waitress for almost five years.
Janet had struggled with cancer since Jun 1999. She enjoyed the outdoors, her hobbies and decorating the display case at Sunrise Cafe.
She has gone to her final resting place to join her mother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who have gone before her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her father Harold E. Schermerhorn; sister June (Mike) Stene of Ada, MN; children M. Faye (Wane) Engkjer of Fargo, ND, Donald E (Debbie) Spitzley of Duluth, MN, Paul S Spitzley of Ramsey, MN, Janet L (Rick) Strand of FL, and Jeanette S Spitzley of Fargo, ND; 10 grandchildren, five step grandchildren; aunts, uncles, cousins and a niece.
Funeral services were Jun 12 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska; Rev. Paul Karges officiated. Interment was a Cleon Township Cemetery, Copemish, Jun 13.
