James W. McMaster, 81, sailed to his final port Nov 3, 2000, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Long Term Care.
He was born in Ludington on Nov 6, 1918, where he resided until 1998.
Surviving are his wife Betty and stepdaughter Christine Andrews, both of Kalkaska, step son Richard Andrews of Rockford; three grandchildren of Grand Rapids; one brother and three sisters, all of California.
Mr. McMaster spent his life sailing the oceans, seas and the Great Lakes, where he retired in 1984 as a master pilot.
Memorial services were held Nov 7 at Dorrell Funeral Home in Ludington.
