James S. Peters, Jr., 50, of Kalkaska, passed away on Fri, Jan 13, 2012 at his home. He was born on Aug 17, 1961 in Hamtramck, the son of James and Antoinette Peters Sr.
Jim married Staci L Stephens on May 2, 1987 in Kalkaska. He was the owner/operator of Advanced Truss Systems in Kalkaska. Jim was the Kalkaska Public Schools Board President of which he was a member for the last 10 years. He also helped build the Imagination Station, was a Little League Coach and umpire and was always heavily involved in his children's sports programs. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and anything his children participated in. Jim enjoyed attending RVB Camp in Posen. Him was also a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church.
Jim was dedicated to the Kalkaska Community and devoted to his family. He will be sadly missed on all the committees he served. at all the high school sport events he attended and cheered for, and by everyone who knew and associated with him.
Surviving Jim is his loving wife, Staci, of 24 years; his children, James A. Peters of Lake Jackson, TX and Kristi L Peters of Kalkaska; his parents James and Antoinette Peters, Sr. of Mancelona; his siblings, Julia (Bill) Barrie of Ann Arbor, Patricia Anthony of Warren, and Anthony (Lisa) Peters of Petoskey; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sun, Jan 15 from 2 to 8 pm at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home with the scripture service at 7pm. The funeral mass will be on Mon at 11 am at St Mary of the Woods Catholic Church with Revered Norman Dickson officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials will be given to the Peter's Children Education Fund.
