James Roy Herbert, 84, of Kalkaska, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at his home. He was born on July 27, 1924 in Detroit, the son of the late Harold J. and Anna Beatrice (Heber) Herbert.
James served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Formerly of Greenville, he moved to Kalkaska in 2001. James was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church.
Surviving James are his loving children, Patrick (Doreen) Herbert of Spring Hill, FL, Kristen (John) Fuller of Kalkaska, and Kevin (Linda) Herbert of Norton Shores; his sister, Audrey (Robert) Lemon, of Farmington Hills; his sister-in-law, Frances Herbert of Wixon; 9 cherished grandchildren; and 5 precious great-grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his devoted wife Phyllis (Crays) Herbert; and his brother, Gerald Herbert.
Visitation for James will be held on Monday, October 20 from 5-8 p.m. at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home in Kalkaska with a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. Services will take place on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church with Reverend James Barrand officiating. Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery in Greenville, Michigan.
