James L Buxton, 85, of South Boardman, died Wed, Jul 23, 1997, at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mr. Buxton was a truck driver for Associated Truck Lines, and moved to South Boardman following his retirement in 1969. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Kalkaska Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking.
Born in Barry County on Dec 17, 1911, he was the son of Vern and Grace Dailey Buxton. He married Wilma Petty in South Boardman in 1934. She preceded him in death in 1961. On Sep 1, 1962, in Mesick, he married Neta Hart Sherman who died May 25, 1995.
Surviving are sons Jerry (Jane) Buxton of Selah, WA and Dale Buxton of Sea-Tach, WA; daughter Linda (Mark) Williams of North Branch; stepdaughter Joyce (Bruce) Lantzer of Kalkaska; daughter in law Karen Buxton of South Boardman; sister Retha Ranshaw of Holt; 14 grandchildren and a great great grandchild.
A son Roger; sisters Wanda, Gladys, and Helen; and a brother Vern preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Kalkaska Church of Christ. E. Dan Johnson officiated. Burial was in Lodi Cemetery, Kalkaska County. Memorial gifts may be directed to North Country Hospice. Arrangements by Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska.
