James F. Sluka, 89, of Williamsburg, formerly of Drenthe, passed away at Munson Hospice House on Sat, Oct 2, 2010. He was born on Jan 21, 1921 in Chicago to the late James and Marie (Romanezak) Sluka.
James served his country proudly during WWII in the US Navy in the Pacific Operation. He loved farming and owned a farm in Drenthe for 26 years. He retired from General Electric in 1986 after 29 years in their janitorial maintenance department. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating.
He is survived by his devoted niece, Joyce Ayers Hendricks of Kalkaska.
James was preceded in death by his first wife, May Ayers Sluka; his second wife, Myrtle Reed Sluka; and his sister, Mae Esparza.
Visitation will be held Fri, Oct 8, 2010 at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm with Reverend Gregg Wolfe of the Kalkaska United Methodist Church saying a few words of comfort. There will be a graveside service held on Sat at 3 pm at Oak Hill Cemetery in Orangeville.
