JAMES “STONEMAN” DICKESON, 57, of Columbiaville died peacefully on December 11, 2010 at home surrounded by his family and friends. James was born October 13, 1953 in Flint, son to Kenneth and Alma (Greenman) Dickeson.
James attended North Branch schools and grew up in the Columbiaville area. James was a well known and respected Stone Mason, earning his nickname “Stoneman.” He owned and operated Stonemanís Custom Stonework Inc. in Columbiaville. He was a member of the Lapeer Masonic Lodge and the Lapeer Eagles. He was an avid golfer. He had a passion for flying and was working on achieving his pilot license. He enjoyed taking aerial pictures of North Branch and the surrounding areas. One of his pride and joys was his í55 Chevy. James loved spending time with his family and friends.
Stoneman is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Alma Dickeson; daughters, Abigail Schlaud of CA, Amanda Croston of WV, Elizabeth (James) Polly of North Branch, Emily (Matthew) Hines of Rochester; sons, Jeremy (Melissa) Kelch of Ferndale, Joseph Schlaud of OR; sisters, Robin (John) Omans of Mayville, Sandra Greenman of NC; brother, Vern (Jackie) Dickerson of Alba; 7 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James was preceded in death by his brothers, Stephen Shepard, Jackie Dickeson; sisters, Catherine Kenney, Sharon Shepard; nephew, Nickolas Bruman; and his grandparents.
Family suggests memorials be made to the family or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Stonemanís funeral was held Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home. Pastor Keith Mead officiated. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
