James D. Forwerck, 66, of Fife Lake, passed away at his home Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, with his loving family at his side.
James was born Oct. 22, 1944, to the late Charles E. and Fallis Nellie (Rice-Snavely) Forwerck in Toledo. James married Linda Kelley on May 26, 1990, at Fife Lake United Methodist Church.
James was an avid fisherman and hunter, especially deer and coon hunting, and walleye fishing. He also enjoyed working in his woodshop.
In addition to his caring wife, Linda, James is survived by his children, Steven Forwerck, of Fairfield, Calif., Janet Green, of Naples, Fla., and Kimberly (Rodney) Smith, of Ocoee, Fla. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tommy and Jessee Green, Drake, Amy and Lane Smith, and step-grandchildren, Matthew Knight and Robin Smith; his brother, Charles (Carol) Forwerck, of Traverse City; and many nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his siblings, Annabelle, Janet, Paul and William; and his grandson, Alex Forwerck.
James and Linda wish to express their appreciation for the care James received from Dr. Nithya Ramnath and Dr. Spring Kong at the University of Michigan; and Dr. Ethan VanTil and Dr. Cornelius Robens, both in Traverse City, during his battle with cancer. They wish to thank all of the medical personnel who have assisted James during this time. And a special thank you to John Kelley, who made Jim's final days at home possible.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Fife Lake United Methodist Church, with Jodi Lynn Stuber officiating.
