James David Pugh passed away on Feb 9, 2023.
Born in Cumberland, he was the son of the late James David Pugh Sr and Audra Mae (Day) Pugh Zombro, of Cumberland.
David was a graduate of Fort Hill High School, Class of 1957, and attended Trinity Methodist Church in his youth. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was assigned to the Military Police Unit. He moved to the Washington DC area and graduated from the National Academy of Broadcasting. He was an electronic technician with Montgomery County Public Schools and retired after 30 years. He returned to Cumberland in 1999 and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Loyal Order of the Moose.
He was a fan of traditional country music and enjoyed line dancing. David was a skilled driver and as a teen, he won the Allegany County Jaycee’s Auto Rodeo contest. He was also an avid car enthusiast throughout his life.
Daivd is survived by his beloved daughter, Teresa M Pugh; by his former wife of 34 years and close friend, Glenda Pugh, of Hagerstown; by first and second cousins, and by many friends who he treasured.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his stepfather, Joseph R. Zombro; by his grandparents, Bessie and Calvin Day; by his uncles, Clifford, Russell, and Calvin Day Jr; and by his aunt, Betty Day Nine of Cumberland.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen, SW Cresptown on Sat, Feb 18. 2023 from 1 to 2 pm.
A funeral service will immediately follow at 2 pm. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
