James D. Banta, 53, of Mancelona died Mon, Oct 19, 1992 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He had been a resident of Mancelona for 21 years.
Mr. Banta had been a field supervisor with Halliburton Services. He was member of the Mancelona Baptist Church, and he loved model trains.
On Sep 28, 1939 in Floral, IL he was born to Washington Lincoln and Iva (Padgett) Banta. In Mancelona, on Sep 27, 1975 he was married to Pamela Sue Johnson, and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Greg Banta and his wife Pam of Mancelona, Jeff Banta of Flora, IL, and Scott Shafer and his wife Tammy with the U.S. Navy stationed on the Kitty Hawk; one daughter, April Joy Shafer of Mancelona; three grandchildren; one brother William Banta and his wife Neva of Sinton, TX; three sisters, Lucile VanWey and her husband Lawrence of Lawrenceville, IL, Carol Schell and her husband Dwight and Gladys Milligan and her husband Lyle all of Flora, IL.
Funeral services were held on Thu, Oct 22, at the Mancelona Baptist Church with Pastor Ray Roach officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
