James A Bennett, 81, of 115 Mills, died Wed in his home after a short illness.
He was born Jan 30, 1892, in Peck.
He married Mary Ethel Singleton Dec 25, 1920, in Argyle.
Mr. Bennett was a retired rural mail carrier, retiring in 1957 after 41 years.
He was a WWI veteran.
Mr. Bennett was a member of the Croswell Volunteer Fire Department many years, and a member of the Croswell Fair Board served as superintendent of speed for races for 25 years.
He was a past master and life member of Lodge No 469, F & AM; a member of Damascus Chapter No 41, RAM and a member of Lexington Commandery No 27.
Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife; a son, Dr. William Bennett, Yale; a daughter, Mrs. Atha Milletics, Croswell; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Bert Bennett, Peck, and Elmer Bennett, Port Huron and a sister in Marlette.
Funeral services were held at 1:30pm Sat in Pomeroy Funeral Home, Rev. Bruce George, pastor of First United Presbyterian Church, officiated.
Burial was in Croswell Cemetery.
