Jacqueline Fay Hoyt, age 95, our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Dec 15, 2023.

Jacqueline was born on Feb 20, 1928 in Suttons Bay, MI, the daughter of the late Owen and Laura (Olson) Hoyt.

Jacqueline was a devoted and caring mother of two, left this world, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth. Born with an independent spirit and a strong work ethic, Jacqueline was not only a phenomenal mother but also an intellectual, cosmopolitan soul who found joy in the richness of life.

Her culinary prowess was renowned, with gazpacho, spaghetti, and Spanish rice standing out as her signature dishes, bringing delight to anyone fortunate enough to savor her creations. Beyond the kitchen, Jacqueline showcased her grace on ice as a figure skater with the Detroit Skate Club, embodying both elegance and athleticism.

A woman of action, Jacqueline generously volunteered her time to the city of Farmington, elections, and the Warner Mansion. Notably, she played a pivotal role on the committee that named the iconic Ford Thunderbird in 1955, leaving an indelible mark on Detroit’s history.

Her adventurous spirit led her to explore the world, cherishing the beauty of Kensington Park and the allure of California. A lover of literature, art, and gardening, Jacqueline embodied  a passion for philanthropy, dedicating herself to helping others.

In 1977, she proudly graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education from Madonna University in Livonia, a testament to her commitment to knowledge and personal growth. Her greatest joy, however, was found in her role as a mother to her beloved children, Matthew and jenifer, and as a doting grandmother to four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Jacqueline Fay Hoyt, affectionately known as the “World’s Best Mom,” will be remembered not only for her accomplishments but for the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the legacy of warmth and compassion she leaves behind. May her spirit soar, forever fondly remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Jacqueline is survived by her loving children, Matthew (Reine) Laschen and Jenifer Laschen; adored grandchildren, Blaire (Anthony) Cano, Rachel (Brandon) Jones, Valerie Laschen, and Jeremy (Mikayla) Laschen; beloved great grandchildren, Ian Bigelow, Daniel “Doc” Freeman, Jake Freeman, Theodore Cano, Eleanor Jones, and Allison Jones.
