Jacob N. Helsel, 55, of Grayling, died at Higgins Township, Roscommon County on May 10, 1989.
Funeral services were held Sat, May 13, 1989, at Sorenson Funeral Home, McEvers Chapel at 1pm with Mr. Ivan H. Goth of Lake City officiating. Burial was in the Beaver Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Helsel was a resident of Beaver Creek for 30 years. He was self employed in the logging and forest products area. Prior to living in Beaver Creek, he was a resident of Lake City.
He was born in Lake City, MI on May 24, 1933, a son of Jacob and Gladys (Chaffee) Helsel.
Mr. Helsel was a member of the Michigan National Guard units 107th Maintenance and 1438th, Engineer and American Legion Post #33.
Mr. Helsel served with the US Army in Korea and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant First Class (E-7). Among his many military decorations are the Purple Heart,
