Jackie E Potes, 71, of Kalkaska, passed away on Fri, Jul 4, 2008 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born on Jun 20, 1937 in Kalkaska, the son of the late Tolbert and Marguerite (Lemon) Potes.
Jackie served his country during the Korean War in the US Army. On Jun 21, 1958, he married Emogene Ione Russell in Kalkaska. Together they raised 2 wonderful children. Jackie retired from the Chevy Truck and Bus Plant on Van Slyke Road in 1988 after over 30 years of service. He belonged to the VFW Post 4406 of Belding, MI and from 1991-1992 served as the VFW State Commander. Jackie was a member of the Kalkaska Church of Christ. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, hunting, fishing, playing pool, and adding to his John Deere collection.
Surviving Jackie is his loving wife of 50 years, Emogene; his children, Jackie E (Lori) Potes Jr of Clio and Ronda J (Eric) Sheppard of Mt Morris; his brothers, Thomas (Judy) Potes of Kingsley, Patrick (Janet) Potes of Flushing, and Bruce (Barb) Potes of St. Helen; 4 grandchildren; and 1 great granddaughter.
Visitation for Jackie will be held on Sun, Jul 6, 2008 from 5 to 7 pm and Mon, Jul 7 from 10 am to 1 pm at the Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. There will be a Veterans Memorial at 7 pm on Sun. The funeral service will be held Mon at 1 pm with Reverend Dan Johnson of the Kalkaska Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
