Jack Lloyd Sloat, 73, of Fife Lake died Dec 1, 2001, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born on Sept 13, 1928, in Garfield Township to William and Emma (Pitz).
He was a Veteran of WWII, serving in the Air Force. He married Ina Nordenberg on Mar 23, 1952, in Grand Rapids. Jack was the owner and operator of Jack's Landing and Livery Service on the Manistee River since 1955.
He also served as the president of the Manistee River Association, was the Garfield Township Supervisor from 1971 through 1992 and a current trustee. He also served as Garfield and Orange Township Tax Assessor and was a licensed real estate agent.
Jack is survived by his loving family; wife Ina of 50 years; children Beverly (Raymond) Park of Lake City, Timothy (Christine) Sloat of South Boardman, Jacqueline Sloat (Clem Clements) of Fife Lake, Laura (Eric) Hendricks of Kalkaska; brother William Henry (Helen) Sloat of Lake City; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at Wolfe Funeral Home at 1 pm Wed, Dec 3 with Rev Kimberland Hough of the Garfield Country Church officiating. Interment will be at the Garfield Township Cemetery. Kalkaska VFW Post 8684 will perform military honors.
Memorials may be made to the family of Jack Sloat or a charity of the donor's choice.
