Jack Eugene Weber, 87, a first class Sailor stepped aboard God’s D.E. for his last voyage on the sea of life on Jun 14, 2014.
He was born in Fremont Indiana to Floyd and Hazel (Doster) Weber Sep 19, 1926.
He attended Fremont High School until 1943, when like so many other young men of that era, he left school and the farm and joined the Navy. His home for the next 3 years was the D.E. USS Koiner. He made several trips escorting supply ships and troops to England, Ireland, and Africa. At the end of the European conflict he was sent to the Pacific until Japan’s surrender.
He returned home to the farm in 1946, shortly thereafter he became a partner in Swager Tower Company making radio towers for the Government. After the partnership dissolved, he worked Construction of Roads and Dams for Halloway Construction Company I-69 in Fremont Indiana, I-75 Buick interchange in Flint Michigan, M-59 in Highland, Michigan, Coldwater overpass in Flint Michigan, The Tioga Hammond Dam in Tioga Pennsylvania, and the Blue Springs Dam in Blue Springs Missouri. He retired in 1988.
He was a life member of the American Legion receiving a certificate for 66 years membership. He was a member of Desa (Destroyer Escort Service). He moved to Florida in 1968.
He leaves behind his wife Carol of 39.5 years, 3 step children, Caryl Heath, Paul McFarland, Kathy (Buck) Carpenter, 6 step grandchildren, steven and Jason Agle, Tona (Keith) Petrella, Matthew McFarland, 5 great grandchildren, Cameron, Kacie and Ethan Wolf, Ella and Vance McFarland, a special young lady Christina and a host of Friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert, sister Margaret Bechtolt and his parents Floyd and Hazel Weber. He will be missed.
