J. Clement Crawfis, 86, of Kalkaska, died Jun 1, 1998, at his residence.
Mr. Crawfis resided in Riverdale prior to moving to Kalkaska in 1962. He was a self-employed excavating contractor, and a member of the Coldsprings-Excelsior Taxpayers Association. He enjoyed traveling and camping.
Mr. Crawfis was born in Custer County, OK, on Apr 30, 1912. On Jul 19, 1936, in Owosso, he was united in marriage with Fernia C. Woodward who survives.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Clare (Mary) Crawfis of Carson City; daughters Gladys (Leon) Avery of Riverdale and Lois (Gordon) Bennett of Ithaca; brother Cloyd (Isabelle) Crawfis of Owosso; seven grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gayle Crawfis, and sisters Blanche Langdon and Fayon Woodard.
Funeral services were held Jun 4 at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Pastor James Hagler officiated. Burial was in Coldsprings Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
