Irene Wainwright, 86, formerly of Garden Hill Rd, Wethersfield, passed away peacefully Sun, Jan 10, 2016 with her family by her side. Born Jan 30, 1929 in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late David and Maude (Tolbert) Wainwright. She lived in Ludlow, MA before moving to Wethersfield in 1942. Irene was a 72 year member of First Church of Christ in Wethersfield. She was a member of the Eastern Star for 62 years and served as Worthy Grand Matron from 1984-1985.
A loving sister, aunt, great aunt and great great aunt, Irene will be dearly missed by her sister, Janet Gingell of East Hartford; nephews, Brian Ellsworth and his wife Debra and their children, Kristin Bushey, Sara Schamback and her husband Philip, David Ellsworth and Rachel Galvin and her husband Kyle; John Tolhus and his children, Samantha Tolhus and John Tolhus; nieces, Laura Gosselin and her husband Paul and her children, Eric Bober and his wife, Abbey and Stephanie Bober; Brenda Carrier, Sharon Conte, Corinne Bergeron and her husband Robert and their children, Bethany Johnson and Robert Bergeron; and great great nephews and nieces, Nathan and Kaelyn Bushey, Miranda and Tucker Schamback, Riley and Oliver Galvin, and Eleanor Bober. She was very devoted to her nieces and nephews and as each one reached the appropriate age, she and her sister Joanne took them on many trips. She was predeceased by her sisters, Joanne Wainwright and Ruth Ellsworth and brothers in law, Fred Ellsworth and Edward Gingell.
Funeral service will be Fri at 11 am at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield with a calling hour from 10 to 11 am prior to the service. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield.
