Irene R. Conell, age 88, of Brown City died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, in Sandusky.
She was born March 22, 1912, in Peck to John and Minnie (Blatt) Hayward. She married James E. Cornell Sr. on Sept 30, 1934, in Detroit.
A housewife and homemaker she also worked for D&C Dime Store and a garment factory, both in Brown City. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church. Irene taught Sunday School and was a member of the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by three children, sons, James and Richard D. (Lynne) Cornell; and a daughter, Karen (Ronald) Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Cornell Sr., three brothers-in-law, Clarence, Kenneth, and Delbert Cornell (this is incorrect, those were her brothers and last name should be Hayward) and a sister, Elnora Payne.
Friends may call at the Carman Funeral Home in Brown City on Friday from 3 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Paul Castle and the Rev. Charles Thompson officiating.
Pallbearers will be Carl and Craig Cornell, Ron, Jamie, and Troy Smith and Bill Jung.
Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
