Irene F. Dewey, 75, of Alden, died Wed, Jan 5, 2000, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
She was born on Aug 5, 1924, in Bellaire, the daughter of Robert and Hazel (Ferris) Watrous. She graduated from Bellaire High School in 1942. On Jun 27, 1942, in Alden she married Roy E Dewey. He preceded her in death on Aug 31, 1991.
Irene lived her whole life in Alden. She worked in Mancelona for 24 years at Gulf & Western, now known as Dura. She retired in 1984.
Irene was a member of the Antrim Church of Christ.
She enjoyed her garden, her farm, and most of all, her family.
Irene is survived by children Rodger Dewey of Alden, Phyllis (Jeff) Fink of Alden, and Alan (Kathy) Dewey of Central Lake; grandchildren Christina Dewey, Patrick (Corinna) Dewey, Jeff Fink and Mike Fink, all of Alden; sisters Donna Thomas of Bellaire, Pearl Dewey of Bellaire and Ruth Goodrich of West Virginia; brother Clifford Watrous of Bellaire; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were Jan 7 at the Antrim Church of Christ in Mancelona; Yousef "Yogi" Jabara Officiated. Interment will be in Helena Township Cemetery, Alden. Memorials may be given to Antrim Church of Christ.
