Irene E. Tanner, 76, of Kalkaska, died Wed, Dec 24, 1997, at the home of her daughter in Williamsburg.
Mrs. Tanner had been a lifelong resident of Kalkaska, and was a member of the Excelsior Church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting, birds, and gardening.
Born in Kalkaska County on Feb 7, 1921, she was the daughter of Milford and Margaret Soper Angell. On Jul 18, 1938, in Mancelona, she was married to Thaddeus Tanner, who preceded her in death on Nov 8, 1989.
Surviving are son John Tanner of Clare; daughters Audrey King of Artesia, NM, Alta Beasley of Nanchang, Jiangxi, China, Carol Tanner of Kalkaska, and Ann Bandlow of Williamsburg; brothers Percy Angell of Fife Lake and Milton Angell of Kalkaska; sisters Lotus Puffer and Elanor Ehl both of Kalkaska, Nila Corteville of Marshall, and Marvel Twigg of Fife Lake; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Daughter Sharon Birgy, grandson Kevin John Tanner, brother Milford, and sisters Maxine and Dora, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Dec 28 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Jeff Badgero officiated. Burial was in Oliver Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
