Imogene Cork
After living life to the fullest, our mom, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend has moved to be with her creator on Mar 29, 2016. Honoring Imogene’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
She was born Feb 6, 1922, to Lillian and Lyman Tenniswood. She was married to Robert cork in 1945.
She graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Music Education. She was an enthusiastic University of Michigan supporter. She spent her early years after college teaching music in the schools in Detroit. Later after marriage she moved to Sandusky, MI with her husband Bob to help him open a farm equipment dealership.
Imogene was always active in her community and church. She directed the choir at the Sandusky First United Methodist Church for many years. She and Bob supported the Sandusky Community Schools. Imogene served on the local school board as well as being president of the Sandusky Community School Board of Education. She was also active in the McKenzie Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Book Club, Gardne Club, Bridge Club, and the Sandusky Chamber of Commerce.
Imogene loved life, she always saw the world with a very positive attitude. Her positive outlook on everyday life was just one of the qualities that people loved to be around. Her sense of humor was contagious. Her zest for life and love for her community will be missed by all who know her.
Imogene was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2009 and her son James in 2015. She is survived by her son Charles (Patricia Roglin) of Scottsdale, AZ, son John (Susan) of Scottsdale, AZ, her daughter Kathryn (Farhad) Shokoohi of Saginaw, MI. Imogene has nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Her love of family and friends was evident in her everyday life and gave her great joy. She also had a special place in her heart for friends, Dan Nichol, and Pam Lambert.
A celebration of Imogene’s life will be held on Fri, Apr 29, 2016 at the Sandusky First United Methodist Church. Friends are welcome to visit with Imogene’s family beginning at 10am. A service of celebration will begin at 11am.
