Mrs. Russell (Helen) Newstead, 52, of 3694 Linden, Traverse City, died Tuesday afternoon at Munson Medical Center after a sudden illness.
The former Helen Ayers was born April 8, 1915 at Flint, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Minor Ayers, was a resident of Traverse City for 50 years and attended local schools.
On February 14, 1947 at Traverse City she was married to Russell Newstead, who survives. A son Robert Troop of Fenton, also survives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Newstead will be held at 10am Fri at Reynolds funeral home in Traverse City, Reader Harry Arnold of First Church of Christ Scientist officiating with burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
