Herman R. Fischer, 51, of 934 Avenue B, Pine Grove subdivision, was stricken with a heart attack and died at 5:30pm Sat while driving his car in the 1000 block of Carver St.
Fischer collapsed over the steering wheel of his car. Rushed to Munson Hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mr. Fischer was born Aug 3, 1906, at Detroit and attended schools there. In 1945 he moved to Suttons Bay, where he owned and operated a garage and service station until 1950 when he moved to Traverse City. For a while he worked at various garages in the city, then established his own garage on Barlow St.
Mr. Fischer was a member of the Suttons Bay Grange and the Northwestern Michigan Racing Association.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Helen Fischer; a son, Gordon A. Fischer, at home; a daughter Mrs. Lee Hoy of Traverse city; his mother, Mrs. Martha Fischer of Detroit; two brothers, Henry and Edward Fischer both of Detroit; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Davis of Centerline, and Mrs. John Schwerin and Mrs. Kurt Fischer of RFD, Lapeer.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30pm Tuesday from Martinson Funeral Home. Pastor Lloyd Hulbert will officiate. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
