Herbert R. Broome, 72, of Bellaire, died Sat, Aug 31, 1996, at his residence.
Mr. Broome moved to Bellaire nine years ago from Rapid City. He owned and operated a real estate agency in the Detroit area, and was formerly employed as a security guard at Munson Medical Center. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and had been a member and former Sunday School Superintendent at Temple Baptist Church in Detroit.
Mr. Broome was born in Detroit on Dec 4, 1923, to Fred and Minnie Muxlow Broome. On Mar 23, 1953, he married Patricia Sugden who survives.
Also surviving are seven daughters: Bonnie Clifford of Jackson, Linda Coburn of GA, Sherri (Grover) Scott and Patricia Muma both of Rapid City, Darlene (Scott) Dean of Westland, Joy (Robert) Therrien of Pinckney, and Karen (John) Greenman of Bellaire; his mother, Minnie Broome of Waterford; one sister, Norma (Ray) Bauer of Waterford; 23 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Wed, Sep 4, 1996, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Dallas Powell officiated.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
