Herbert L. Nelson, 76, of Traverse City, died Wed, Mar 24, 1993, at Grand Traverse Medical Care Facility.
Mr. Nelson was a professor of industrial arts at Eastern Michigan University for 41 years prior to his retirement in 1980. He served in the Army Air Force during WW2. He was a member of Lincoln United Methodist Church in Ypsilanti and the Michigan Education Association.
Mr. Nelson was born in Lansing on Jan 31, 1917 to Leslie and Gertrude Lichty Nelson. On Aug 23, 1942, in Kalkaska, he was married to Alice McDonald who preceded him in death on Jan 12, 1986.
Surviving are one son, Robert L. Nelson of Houston, TX; one daughter, Nancy Manley of Houston, TX; one step daughter, Norma Meadowcraft of Grawn; one brother Leo Nelson of CA; two sisters, Annabelle Boersma of Traverse City and Louise Robinson of IL; 10 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sun, Mar 28, 1993, at the Wolfe Funeral Home. E. Dan Johnson, pastor of the Kalkaska Church of Christ, officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
