Henry Harrison LaClare, Jr., born Aug 20, 1927, graduated to Glory on Oct 6, 2010 at Ann Arbor Veterans Hospital after several months of intensive care.
The son of Henry Harrison LaClare Sr. and Sybel Dewey LaClare of Detroit, Hank LaClare, an electrical engineer retired from General Motors Tech. He enjoyed serving as Commodore of the Fisher Body Yacht Club for a few years.
Harry married Arlene Kushler and they parented three children, Paul Harrison of Fowlerville, David Miles of Rockwood, and Denise (Scott) Smiley of Reno, NV. Harry had seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
On Nov 5, 50 members of Harry's family and friends gathered for his burial at South Lyon Cemetery alongside his wife, Arlene, sister Gwenlaurie and brother in law, Dr. Don Karr, resting with the preceding six generations of his family.
Afterward in Fowlerville, and again on Nov 6, at the home of his niece, Laurie Karr Coursellas in Northville, his family and friends gathered to celebrate his life.
Harry and Arlene were avid members and supporters of the Sno Packers and Sled Dog Races. He will be missed this winter at his post on Smith Lake Road Sled Dog Teams crossing.
The past three years his nephew, Bruce has stood the post with him. Harry's youngest sister, Sylvia and her husband, Dr. Don Longfield live in Kalkaska.
