Henry DeLong passed away on Feb 9, 2007, surrounded by his family.
Henry and his wife, Christine (Enger) DeLong celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on Jan 23, 2007. They were high school sweethearts, graduating from Alpena High School. They were united in marriage while Henry was stationed in the Army at Camp Clairborne in Louisiana.
After serving in the Army, Henry and Christine settled in Battle Creek where they raised two children. Henry worked at the Kellogg Cereal Plant in Battle Creek as a foreman in the packaging department, retiring after 38 years. Henry is a member of the Kellogg 25 year club and the American Legion Post 298 of Battle Creek. Just prior to retirement, Henry and Christine bought a cabin just south of Kalkaska, MI, where they spent many enjoyable days with family and friends. Henry was also an avid hunter.
Henry is survived by his wife, Christine; daughter Elaine (James) Avery, Battle Creek; six grandchildren, Nicholas (Stacey) Avery, Tanya (Robert Budd, Deborah (Chad) Lampert, Annette (Alan) Dyer, all of Battle Creek, Jillena (Daniel) Kellogg, Fife Lake, Katherine (Todd) Kreykes, South Boardman; and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Leon (Connie) DeLong of Battle Creek.
The funeral will be held on Thu, Feb 15 at 11 am at Richard A. Henry Funeral Home in Battle Creek.
