Henrietta Allen, 91, of Mancelona, went to be with the Lord Fri, Mar 31, 1995, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Long Term Care Facility.
Funeral services were held Apr 3 at the Paullin Funeral Home, Mancelona. Pastor Mark McCool, of the Antrim Church of Christ, officiated, with interment following at Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
Mrs. Allen was born on Apr 21, 1903, in Bowen, KY, the daughter of Benjamin I and Louretta (Hall) Townsend. On Nov 31, 1921, in Bowen she married Rex Allen. He died Mar 16, 1971.
Mrs. Allen had lived in the Mancelona area since 1927. She was a member of the Mancelona Senior Citizen Center, and enjoyed knitting, making quilts, gardening, and canning vegetables.
She is survived by daughters Nancy Gaylord (Charles) and Florence Ide (Harold) all of Mancelona, and Helen Smith (Merriel) of Grand Rapids; sons Buck Allen (Misako) of Berrien Springs, Jack Allen (Margaret) of Mancelona, James Allen of Temple Hill, MD, and Joseph Allen (Sherri) of Mancelona; 29 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by grandsons Bill Gaylord and Joseph Charles Allen; great grandchild Andrew Jahnkel; four brothers, and two sisters.
Memorials may be given to the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Long Term Care Facility.
