Helen Roselle Bier, 85, of Charlevoix, passed away, Fri, Jan 25, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan. She was born on Sep 17, 1922, in Grand Rapids to Goldie Augusta (Roszel) and Fred L. Mankel. She is survived by her brother, Kenneth Mankel, her sister, Barbara King, her daughters, JoAnne Beemon (Rick), Sally Bier (Sam Johnson), Sandra Bier Johnson (Russ), Karen Bradley (Gary), her sons, Ray Bier III (Tami), Glenn Bier (Mary), Kenneth Bier (Leslie), her loving companion, Thomas Cuniffe and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Roselle was preceded in death by her parents, Goldie and Fred Mankel, her beloved daughter, Patty, former spouse, Ray Bier, Jr, and her brothers, LaVern and Richard Mankel.
Roselle taught "English as a second language." She loved to travel and photograph nature. She was an avid naturalist and most at home in the woods enjoying the birds, wildflowers (especially the orchids) and eagles. She was always ready for a new adventure and loved sharing her excitement for life with others.
A Memorial Service was held Sun, Feb 3, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 101 State St, Charlevoix.
