Helen May Fenstermaker Spears, 91, Pickerington, died Sun, Dec 22, 1996, at Winchester Place Nursing Home.
She was born May 3, 1905, to William E. and Hattie Hoy Fenstermaker. She formerly worked as a Pickerington telephone operator and also for Pickerington Creamery. She wrapped the first stick of Mayflower butter. She was a 1923 graduate of Pickerington High School and was a member of Peace United Methodist Church and Lydia Circle, Melrose Rebekah Lodge No. 571 (Past Grand Noble Club), Evans Chapter No 191 Order of Eastern Star, Los Amigos Club, Pickerington Senior Citizens, Pickerington Historical Society and the Violet Township Fire Auxiliary (Violet Belles).
She is survived by a son and daughter in law, Robert and Patti Spears of Pickerington; grandchildren, Debbie (Jim) Routt of Circleville, Robbie (Stephanie) Spears of Pickerington and Heidi Spears of St Johns, Virgin Islands; step grandchildren, Dan Nicodemus of North Carrolton and Roger (Betsy) Nicodemus of Piketon; great grandchildren, Brian and Jenny Routt and William and Justin Spears; step great grandchildren, Brad, Jeff, and Mallory Nicodemus; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 64 years, William M Spears; sister, Cora Weaver; and brothers, Phillip, Frank, and Omar Fenstermaker.
Funeral service will be at 10 am Friday at Peace United Methodist Church, Pickerington, with the Rev. Craig D Jones officiating. Interment will be in Violet Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Thursday at Dwayne R Spence Funeral Home, Pickerington, and one hour prior to service Friday.
