Helen H Maule, 86, of Coldsprings Township, died Sat, Jun 13, 2009, at her son's home. 

Helen was born Dec 19, 1922, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Albert and Gertrude (Riech) Grabowski. 

Helen was a longtime member of St Paul Lutheran Church in Kalkaska, and was the secretary, as well as a board member, for CETA in Manistee Lake. 

She served as a nurse in the Army Nurse Corps during WWII - in both the Philippines and Japan. She was also a registered nurse at St Joseph Hospital in Flint for many years, before retiring in 1972. 

Upon retirement, she moved to Coldsprings Township from the Flint area. 

She enjoyed quilting, pinochle and crafting. Helen was known as a very social "people person."

On Apr 17, 1948, in Reno, NV, she married Jack Maule, who preceded her in death in 2002. 

Also preceding her in death were a son; John in 1983; a sister, Verna Zigler and her parents. 

Surviving are two children, Kathleen (Steven) Holen of Erie, CO, and Thomas Maule of Coldsprings Twp; a brother, Edwin (Amy) Grabowski of Decatur, IL; a sister, Florence (Richard) LaCrone of Topeka, KS; seven grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will take place Wed, Jun 17 at 3 pm at the St Paul Lutheran Church in Kalkaska. 

The Rev Chad Hoover will officiate. 

Visitation will take place from 1:30 pm until the time of service at the church. 

Interment will follow in Coldsprings Township Cemetery. 

Arrangements are being handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
