Harry W. Thorne, 85, of Kalkaska, passed away on Tue, Dec 14, 2010 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born on Oct 29, 1925 in Pontiac to the late Wilber and Edith (Harvey) Thorne.
Harry served his country proudly as a member of the US Army and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. Harry married the former Freda L Love on Sep 22, 1951 in South Boardman. Together they raised two sons. Harry made his living working in the lumber industry but was known as a "Jack of All Trades." He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and word puzzles. Harry was a special caregiver to his dear wife, taking care of her as only he could. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Harry is survived by his loving wife, Freda: his dear sons, John D (Nancy) Thorne and Raymond L (Barbara) Thorne, both of Kalkaska; his cherished grandchildren, Kenneth Thorne, Leona Thorne, Amy (Eric) Marshall, and John Thorne Jr; four precious great grandchildren; and his siblings, Roy (Carol) Thorne of Maurice and Ruth Manley of Fayetteville, AR.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Helen Johnson.
Visitation for Harry will be held on Fri, Dec 17 2010 from 6 to 8 pm at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Sat at 11 am at the funeral home with Pastor Marty Harrison of Church Alive officiating. Burial will be in Boardman Township Cemetery in the spring.
