Harold LeRoy Newmarch, 97, of Kingsley passed away on Sat, February 18, 2017. He was born on Mar 7, 1919 in Kingsley to the late Earl and Mildred (Smith) Newmarch.
Harold was a lifelong resident of Kingsley, where he farmed most of his life.
He married his beloved wife, Mary Hency on Jun 7, 1939; together they raised six children and watched their family grow until she passed away on February 27, 2000.
Harold retired in 1984 from Grand Traverse County Road Commission.
Hunting was always his passion, but he also found time to go bowling, throw horseshoes or go fishing.
Harold is survived by his children, Eleanora (Dale) Strange, Joan Willingham, Juanita (Bob) King, Marion (Don) Peplinski, Sharon (Terry) Case, and Dan (Amy) Newmarch; 18 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; his siblings, Vera Riley, Doris Stein, Irene Stremlow, Helen Fritz, Jay Newmarch, and Leona Nye; sister in law, Anna Newmarch; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; brothers, Kenneth and Floyd Newmarch; sister, Lena Temm; grandson, Pat Case; great grandsons, Josh and Jedidiah; son in law, Russell Willingham; and grandson in law, Jeff Stone.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Sat, February 25, 2017 with final visitation beginning at 10am at the Kingsley Baptist Church, 7511 Blackman Rd, Kingsley. Pastors Mike Brayton of Kingsley Baptist Church and Carl Litchfield of Kingsley United Methodist Church will officiate the service. Burial will take place at Kingsley Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Harold’s honor may be made to Kingsley United Methodist Church or the Kingsley Area Ambulance.
