Harold F VanAtta, 85, formerly of Ada, died at 2:08 am Aug 1, 2006 at St Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born Feb 20, 1921, in Hardin County to John W and Grace Augusta Elzay VanAtta, who preceded him in death. On Dec 20, 1942, he married Irma Jean Crowe, who survives in Lima.
Mr. VanAtta had been owner and operator of Hal & Jean’s Restaurant and the 302 Carry Out, both in Ada, and had owned a trailer park in California.
Survivors also include a daughter, Jean Anne (Gerald “Jerry”) Dearth of Ada; three granddaughters; four stepgrandchildren; seven great grandchildren; four brothers, Willard (Mattie Lee) VanAtta and Lloyd (Mary) VanAtta , both of Ada, and Paul (Rosemary) VanAtta and John (Brenda) VanAtta Jr both of Indian Lake; and three sisters, Mildred (Bernie) Robinson of Arlington, Marie Wolgamot of Columbus and Lola (Jack) Mullholand of Fremont.
He was preceded in death by a son, Sheridan “Danny” VanAtta, who died in 1998; a brother, Donald VanAtta; and a sister, Martha VanAtta.
Graveside services will begin at 1 pm Sat in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada. The Rev. Tom Dearth will officiate.
