Gordon Maurice Sewell, age 70, beloved husband of 49 years to Nona Veronica Becker Sewell, died Monday, June 9, 2008, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Sewell was born in Detroit, Mich., a son of the late Calvin Earl Sewell and Marguerite Dorrance Sewell. He served in the U.S. Army for nine years, serving in Korea. He worked for General Electric Corp. in Erie, PA, as a quality control and research and development inspector. He was a registered x-ray technician and an ultrasound technician. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Gregory Joseph Sewell, and his wife Mary of Columbus, GA, and Philip Matthew Sewell and his wife Nikki of Mooresville, N.C.; a daughter, Sharon Theresa Sewell Tanner and her husband Dean of Midlothian, VA; a brother, Donald Joseph of Ann Arbor, MI; a sister, Dorothy Sewell Paulson; and two grandchildren, Carl James McClatchey III and Jennifer Rene McClatchey.
A funeral service will be held at a 11 a.m. Friday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church with Father Thomas Burke, CsSR officiating. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
