Gordon E. Peschke, 83, a 27-year resident of Pleasant Ridge, formerly of Detroit, died Thu, Aug 1, in William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. He was born May 30, 1913, in Detroit.
Mr. Peschke was very active at Messiah Lutheran Church, where he served on the council and board of trustees. He also taught Sunday school and was the most outgoing greeter. He retired from Edon Industrial Products in 1994. Mr. Peschke helped build bridges over the Rapid River in Kalkaska County, in what will become Seven Bridges Park. He also enjoyed working with wood and planted thousands of trees during his lifetime. For 27 years he was a regular patron each Saturday at the Royal Oak Farmers Market.
Surviving are his wife, Cecelia E. (Krasa), whom he married Dec 3, 1938, in Detroit; daughter, Lenore (Alan) Hutchenreuther of Southfield; sons, Arthur F (Ruth) of Royal Oak, and roger of Southfield; brother, Howard (Lucille) of Southgate; sister, Marian (Robert) Cunov of IL; and five grandchildren.
A son, Gordon C. Peschke, died Dec 25, 1994.
A memorial service, was held at Messiah Lutheran Church in Detroit with Pastor Robert Hoey officiating; burial took place at Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit.
